Helen P. Reiss

Batavia - Mrs. Helen P. Reiss, 83, formerly of Vernon Avenue in Batavia, died Thursday, (July 3, 2008) at the New York State Veterans Home.

Mrs. Reiss was born April 1, 1925 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Francis  and Dorotha  (Partridge) Peck.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hospital Guild and Godfrey's Pond.  Mrs. Reiss also enjoyed playing bridge.

Survivors include two sons, Derek (Debra) Reiss of Elba and  David (Barbara) Reiss of Batavia; a brother, Roy (Arlene) Peck of Florida; four grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Gregory D. (Mitzi) Reiss of Florida, Julie A. (Todd) Mielke of Virginia, Robert E. Reiss of Batavia and Erika K. Reiss of Elba; four great-grandchildren, Leilani Jackson, Kaleb Reiss, Isabella Reiss and Mackenzie Mielke; several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Robert Reiss died in 1981 and she is the sister of the late Elsie Chase.

Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Ave., Batavia (please note, no services will be held on Tuesday).  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family, to be distributed to various charities.
