Ann E. Rugala
Batavia - Mrs. Ann E. Rugala, 89, of Batavia, a clerk at J.C. Penney in Batavia for many years, peacefully entered into rest, Thursday, (June 19, 2008) at Hill Haven Nursing Home in Webster.
Mrs. Rugala was born July 6, 1918 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Casimir and Helen (Krantz) Stomper.
She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church and its Rosary Society. Mrs. Rugala was also a member of the Bishop's Committee, Apostleship of Prayer, Notre Dame Prayer Group and was a past vice-president of the Parent Teachers of St. Joseph School.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann (Steve) Schulz of Webster; a brother, Jack Stomper of Batavia; a sister, Helen (John) Seager of Williamsville; a brother-in-law, Edward (Ella May) Rugala of Kansas City; 4 grandchildren, Mary Beth (Roger D'Augustino) Schulz, Michael Schulz, Daniel (Suzie) Schulz and Kristin (fiance Steven Muratore) Schulz; 2 great-grandchildren, Dominic and Christopher D'Augustino; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Joseph J. Rugala died September 30, 2002. She is a sister of the late Dorothy Moynihan and Mary Stomper.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 on Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ascension Parish-Sacred Heart Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1298 Main Street, Buffalo, New York 14209.
