Mr. Peter A. "PJ" Scalia, II

Batavia - Mr. Peter "PJ" A. Scalia, II, 30, an employee of BJ's in Batavia died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at home.

PJ was born August 27, 1977 in Batavia, a son of Peter A. Scalia and Deborah Hamilton Deni both of Batavia.

He served with the Army and attended Batavia High School. An active member of the Batavia Lions Club he received the prestigious Uplinger Award. The award reads as follows, "distinguished service award presented in recognition for Peter A. Scalia's II unselfish generous service. PJ's pronounced intention to give back to the community is an inspiration to us all."  He was studying to be a minister.  For the past years PJ did not let his illness get the best of him.  He did not quit and was enthused about everything he did.

Along with his parents he is survived by  two daughters; Cassandra and Samantha Scalia; one brother; Jason (Staci) Scalia of Tennessee;   paternal grandparents, Anthony and Julia Scalia of Batavia and maternal grandmother, Pauline Hamilton of Batavia.  He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St. Batavia.  Services will be private. Memorials may be made to Lions Club Batavia, P.O. Box 456, Batavia, NY 14021 or Mercy Flight, Inc., 100 Amherst Villa Rd., Buffalo, NY  14225.
