Mr. David C. Angst


Stafford - Mr. David C. Angst, 85, of Stafford, an employee at Lapp Insulator in LeRoy, for 19 years prior to his retirement in 1981, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the home of his daughter in Batavia.

Mr. Angst was born September 15, 1922 in Auburn, a son of the late Guy Angst and Ann Olmstead Angst Wood.

He served in the European Theatre during WWII with the Air Force’ 153 Medical Battalion and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, president and co-owner of AM&M Clothiers, formerly on Main Street in Batavia and closed in 1963.  He was a diehard Yankees fan, enjoyed golf at Terry Hills and LeRoy Country Club and was considered an excellent piano player.

His wife, Lila Jean (Krautwurst) Angst died June 19, 1993.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Davison of Batavia and Bonnie Richardson of Toronto, Ontario; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Richardson of Toronto and Megan Jean Davison of Williamsburg, VA; his longtime companion, Barbara Morris of Stafford, a sister-in-law, Joyce Angst of Batavia, his dear friend, Sherm Heywood of Stafford; nieces, nephews, step sisters, and a step brother. 

He is the brother of the late Donald Angst and stepson of the late Harold Wood.

There are no calling hours.  Friends may attend services at 2 p.m., Sunday, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 6188 Route 5, Stafford, NY 14143.  Burial will be in Stafford Rural Cemetery.
