Mr. Dennis S. Bateman
Byron - Mr. Dennis S. Bateman, 52, a machinist at Eastman Kodak and Lapp Insulator, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Crossroads House, Batavia.
Mr. Bateman was born August 26, 1955 in Batavia, a son of Gerald C. Bateman of Byron and the late Sarah Gerace Bateman.
Mr. Bateman was a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club and a life member of the South Byron Volunteer Fire Department. He chaired the motorcycle charity event, “Gifts from the Heart”. Dennis was a fabulous husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle and an all around good Samaritan, always willing to help someone.
Surviving is his wife, Lynn (Campo) Bateman, whom he married January 10, 1981; a son, Jared (Loralyn) Bateman of Byron; a daughter, Justine Bateman of Rochester; a brother, Gerald C. (Peter Schragle) Bateman, Jr. of Rochester; a sister, Ann (Eric) Nelson of Pittsford; three grandchildren, Hayley, Sarah & Aidan Bateman; nephews, Brian & Geoff Nelson of Pittsford along with other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the son-in-law of Dr. Gerald (Joyce) Campo of Rochester and brother-in-law of Stephen Campo and Kristen Barry, both of Rochester.
Friends may call on both Monday and Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. His Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.
