Mrs. Mona Hale Stellato BonaDonna

Batavia - Mrs. Mona Hale Stellato BonaDonna, 88, of Batavia, an employee of the former G.T.E. Sylvania in Batavia, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. BonaDonna was born December 12, 1919 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Harrison and Jeanette (Johnson) Hale.

She worked at the former GTE Sylvania plant in Batavia until they moved south.  A favorite past time was going out to eat, especially a "little dessert", shopping and, early in her retirement, crocheting of afghans.  The last few years she got ample enjoyment watching her great grandchildren grow up as well as feeding her "stray cats" and her dogs, Tingerbell and Bindy.

She recently found a new "life" at LeRoys Garden View, a senior activity center where she met many new friends, one of whom would sing "Mona Lisa" to her everyday.  She so enjoyed her time there stating often "it is such a beautiful place".

She is predeceased by her first husband, Joseph J. Stallato and her second, Anthony BonaDonna.

She was a loving mother of Mary (George Seyler) Sorce of Batavia; stepmother of Virginia Steinbrenner of Batavia, grandmother of Rita (Darren) Towner of Batavia, with whom she resided; great grandmother of Cody Towner, Spencer Towner and Aubrey Towner, all of Batavia; sister of Joseph (Judy) Hale, Helen Cecere and Bessie (Joe) Grasso, all of Batavia and Nina (Daniel) DeGeorge and Grace Pellegrino, all of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her son-in-law, Charlie Sorce, Jr., a sister, Gladys Greenbaum; six brothers, Norman, Robert, Richard, Jack, Harry and Tracy Hale.

There are no prior calling hours.  A Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Mary's Site, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021 or to Garden View Senior Care, 124 E. Main Street, LeRoy, NY 14482.  Arrangements were completed by Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, of Batavia.
