Alice L. Francis-Bartz, passed away on Sunday, April 20th, 2025, at the age of 96. Alice was born on May 13th, 1928, in West Barre.
Alice was employed as a cook at the Batavia High School for over 20 years. She was a devout Christian and an active member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Batavia.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Andrew Sanderson and Irene Pickett Sanderson, her husbands, Irving Henry Francis and Francis H Bartz, her son Roger Francis, and her granddaughter, Jill DoSantos.
She is survived by her loving children, Paul Francis of Florida and Doreen DaSilva of Maine, as well as her daughter-in-law, Faith Francis of Batavia; her sister, Eleanor Eldridge of LeRoy, and her granddaughters, Michelle (Wagner) DeOliveira of Maine and Christine (Bradley) Francis-Frens of Tennessee. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her fondly. Special thanks are extended to Penny Bartz for her unwavering support and care.
Alice will be remembered as an outstanding baker, renowned for her delectable apple pies and no-bake cookies. Her love for music and talent for telling jokes brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Alice's life at a visitation on Friday, April 25th, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, both held at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. She will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's memory to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 190 Oak Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
