Oakfield - Alice Ruth King-Maher, age 90, passed away on March 9th at the Genesee County Nursing Home. Alice was born to Florence Keith Beaulne on April 4, 1924 in Buffalo, NY and was raised by Florence and Harold (Duke) Shipman.
Survivors include her sons Lloyd Arlon King Jr. of Lafayette, Louisiana; James Alan King of Cambridge City, Indiana and Nashville, Tennessee; her daughters Shirley (Jeannie) Curtis of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Stormy Strauss DeRenzis, Chesilhurst, New Jersey; sister Shirley Arlene Beaulne King, Louisiana; Beverly Shipman Stinecipher, Florida; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd Arlon King Sr. and her second husband, James Maher; her son Jeffrey Elliot King; her grandsons Jeffrey Elliot King II and Jonathan Michael Dolph.
A brief service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Street, Oakfield. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers the family has requested any memorials be made to the Oakfield Historical Society at P.O. Box 74, Oakfield, NY 14125. Alice was a member of the society and felt strongly about its mission to remember, chart, and share Oakfield's past.
