Batavia - Mrs. Angeline Mosco Cassiano, 90, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Genesee County Nursing Home where she had resided the last three and a half years.
Mrs. Cassiano was born June 18, 1922 in Dudley, Pa., a daughter of the late Giacomo and Domenica Faccia Mosco.
First and foremost was the love of her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and spent countless hours in her vegetable and flower gardens. Angie was very active in St. Cecilia (Padre Pio) Parish as treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society for many years. She is remembered by many for co-chairing the annual St. Cecilia's spaghetti dinner and providing all the homemade pasta. She also provided countless dinners for visiting clergy.
She began working at the age of 17 at Haxton Foods and then Curtice Burns in accounting in Rochester until retirement at age 65. She shortly resumed working at the company credit union until age 82.
Her husband, Nicholas Cassiano, passed away February 26, 1957.
Survived by her children, Joanne (Ronald) Kowalczyk, Laurie (Michael) Laycock and Mary Ann (Rich) Szentmikloski; grandchildren; Janine, Brian, Nick, Christina, Adam, Melissa, Jill, Richard and Alex; nine great-grandchildren; her brother: Frank (Josephine) Mosco; three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Ann Mosco Orsini and Reda Mosco, her brother Sandy Mosco and her grandson, Matthew Laycock.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, where members of the Altar and Rosary Society will gather at 6:45 p.m. to recite the rosary. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Worship Site, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield.
