Anita M. Gomez-Ferns, 53, of Rochester, died Monday (December 14, 2015) at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.
Anita was born October 24, 1962 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Jose and Gloria (Schiavi) Gomez.
Anita will be remembered for her constant smile, her bubbly and infectious laugh along with her big heart for everyone. She was a medical secretary at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She loved to dance and loved her family, especially her daughter, Sarah, who is the center of her universe.
Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Ferns of Cranston, RI; her step-daughter, who she loved deeply, Haleigh Youll; her fiancé, Dan Youll, of Rochester, who she was going to marry March 7, 2016; her brothers and sisters, Linda (Bill) Walsh of Scottsdale, AZ, Suzanne Gomez-Fuerschbach of Marshfield, MA, Gloria (Amos) Williams of Batavia, Paul Gomez of Austin, TX, Peter Gomez of Batavia, Tom (Kristen) Gomez of Batavia and Joe (Helen) Gomez of Batavia and several nieces and nephews, who loved Aunt Anita deeply.
She is predeceased by her sister, Delores Gomez-Durham and her husband, Eddie Ferns.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Ascension Parish, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia. Memorials may be made to the family or to Golisano Children's Hospital.
