Oakfield - Mrs. Ann Scopano, 90, of Oakfield, owner of the Oakfield Hotel since 1964, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center.



Mrs. Scopano was born January 5, 1923 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Samuel and Grace Morasco DiCasolo.



A member of St. Padre Pio Parish, Mrs. Scopano was also a member of the Oakfield-Alabama Lions Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oakfield-Alabama American Legion Hiram G. Luhman Post No. 626.



Known to everyone as "Gram", she loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed trips to the casinos, shopping and horse racing. She was an avid bowler who enjoyed cooking and word searches.



Her husband, John P. Scopano, passed away on March 2, 1999.



Surviving are two sons, John P. (Lois) Scopano, Jr. of Oakfield and Carmine "Sam" Scopano, both of Oakfield; two daughters, Linda (Donald) Engle of Elba and Judy (James) Gilbert of Bergen; a brother-in-law, Carmen Scopano of Batavia; four sisters-in-law, Nenat Catanese of Henrietta, Mary Cooke of California, Arlene Scopano of Florida and Lillian Pridmore of Georgia; 9 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.



She is the sister of the late Nicolas, Philip, Nellie, Jenny, Rose, Lucy, Lena, Mary and Ann.



Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Worship Site, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
