Alabama - Anna E. (Gross) Gabriel, 93, of Alabama, passed away Tuesday, (June 11, 2013) at her home.
Mrs. Gabriel was born September 5, 1919 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Bosnak) Gross.
Anna was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecelia's Church and formerly attended mass at the former St. Patrick's Church in Wheatville. She was a member of the St. Patrick Altar and Rosary Society and the Basom Home Bureau. She enjoyed word puzzles and spending time with her family; especially her children and grandchildren. She was very fond of the family camp in the Southern Tier.
She was the wife of the late Stephen Gabriel, Sr., who passed away in 1995.
Mrs. Gabriel is survived by her sons, Stephen (late Christie) Gabriel, Jr. of Hilton, Dr. Edward (Audrey) Gabriel of Williamsport, PA, and James (Catherine) Gabriel, Esq. of Ovid; a brother, Michael "Frank" (Shirley) Gross of Basom; sisters, Evelyn (late Maynard) Clark of Batavia, Eleanor (late John) Fortner of OH, Bernice (Ronald) Huchmuth of Alabama; a brother-in-law, Gordon Hermann of Medina; sisters-in-law, Lucille Gross of Medina, Doreen Gross of Buffalo, and Louisa Gross of Brockport. 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
Anna is preceded in death by her siblings, John Gross, Joseph (late Grace) Gross, Rudolph Gross, Robert (late Roberta) Gross, Richard Gross, Betty (late Alfred) Moser, and Ruth Hermann.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Anna's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, (June 14, 2013) at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Ceceila's Church, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alabama Fire Department, P.O. Box 798, Basom, NY 14013 or Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield.
