Bergen - Augustus C. "Gus" Warren, 87, of Godfrey's Pond, a supervisor at GTE Sylvania in Batavia, prior to his retirement, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Warren was born October 20, 1927 in Batavia, a son of the late Louis C. and Leora (Schultz) Warren.
He served from 1946 to 1947 aboard the USS Little Rock while in US Navy. He led the congregational singing and choir at the Brockport Church of Christ. He and his wife were the caretakers at Godfrey's Pond from 1983 to 1990 where he was a member since 1948 and a past member of the board of directors.
He is survived by his wife, Laura (Pratt) Warren, whom he married June 26, 1948; 5 children, Mark (Annette) Warren of Fabius, Gary (Dana) Warren of Batavia, Kathie (Richard) Housaah of Brockport, David (Kelly) Warren of Batavia and Wendy (Benjamin) Ritzenthaler of Shortsville; a sister, Mary Swingle of Batavia; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Leonard Warren and Donald Warren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesee County Fish and Game Protective Association, Inc., P.O. Box 217, Batavia, NY 14021. Private burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Alexander. Arrangements were entrusted to H.E. Turner & Co., Inc. of Batavia.
