Carol Hilchey, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born on Monday, August 18th, 1941 in Batavia, New York, to William Elmore and Elizabeth (Powers) Elmore.
Carol worked in a law office as a paralegal for Albert Avery in Oakfield NY. Upon the birth of her sons, Carol became a devoted homemaker, tirelessly caring for her family. She was an excellent cook and baker, a job even more necessary at the time to feed two active and growing teenage boys. Carol was a voracious reader, often finishing an entire novel in a single sitting. She also enjoyed spending time outside with her husband Glenn tending their garden and numerous plants on their property in Oakfield.
A long-time resident of Oakfield, Carol is survived by her sons, Dr. Shannon (Rebecca) Hilchey of Rochester, New York and Dr. Sean (Nora) Hilchey of Piedmont, California; six grandchildren, Connor, Emily, Maxwell, Mirabel, Holden, and Annabeth; siblings, Dennis Elmore, Joan Plapus, Peggy White, Cindy Elmore along with several nieces and nephews.
The love of Carol's life, her husband Glenn Hilchey, predeceased her. Together, they built a beautiful life surrounded by family and friends who will remember her for her warmth and generous spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads House, located at 11 Liberty Street, Batavia, NY 14020 (https://www.crossroadshouse.com/donate), where Carol spent her final days. Carol’s family would like to send their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Crossroads House for their tireless efforts making Carol as comfortable as possible during her final hours.
There are no prior visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with Carol and hold her close in our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Carol. You will be dearly missed.
