Batavia - Daniel S. Grandillo, Jr., age 91 of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia. Due to NYS DOH rules, during the past 14 months our dad was unable to enjoy visiting with family privately inside or outside in the fresh air. It wasn't until his final days that family was allowed to visit with him in his room, two at a time without supervision from the facility. Please advocate for our elderly in care facilities, they need to be able to enjoy the time they have left with family. They have missed so much due to the lockdown.
He was born June 29, 1929 in Buffalo, a son of the late Daniel S. and Mary Grandillo.
Along with his late wife Patricia, they were the owners of Granny's Attic in Batavia from 1971 until 1978. He worked for 20 years at G.T.E. Sylvania in Batavia retiring as a supervisor. A longtime member of the former St. Nicholas Club, he also worked for the Rochester City School District for 22 years and delivered flowers for Flowers by Dick Burton.
Daniel is predeceased by his wife Patricia Dewey Grandillo, brother & sister-in law Stephen (Beatrice) Grandillo and nephew Stephen Grandillo, Jr.
Surviving are his daughters; Mary Ellen Davis of Denver, Colorado, Cheryl Grandillo of Batavia, Patti (Philippe) Muths of Denver, Colorado and Dana (Michael) Kelley of Clearwater, Florida, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 nieces and the son he never had Mark Tepedino.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia where services will follow immediately at 4 p.m. He will be entombed in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
