David P. Swinton, 60, of South Byron, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 6, 2016.

David was born June 7, 1956 in Ticonderoga, the son of Elsie (Goyette) Swinton of Crown Point and the late Gerald Swinton.

David's family was most important to him. He was a coach in the Byron-Bergen Community and also at Notre Dame High School, having coached basketball, soccer and softball. David enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening and had a love for animals. He was a member of Resurrection Parish and loved his job as crisis intervention at BOCES of Genesee County.

Surviving along with is mother are his wife, Jane (O'Reilly) Swinton of South Byron; one son, Jason Swinton of Webster; one daughter, Colleen Swinton of Rochester; two brothers, Timothy (Christine) Swinton and Randy (Danielle) Swinton, both of Schroon Lake; one sister, Bonnie (Jim) Hughes of Brant Lake; twenty-two nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

David is the brother of the late Isabelle Armstrong and Sally Kennedy.

Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. David's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.
