Dixie passed away peacefully at The Grand Nursing Home in Batavia on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Dixie was born December 14, 1923 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Samuel Westbrook (Westy) Haring and Muriel (Hals25ein) Haring.
Her loving husband, Richard Vance Hartley passed away in 2012 and her two sisters, Musette Haring and Judy Post, predeceased her.
Survivors include: daughter, Bonney J. Knobel of Batavia; son, Charles V. Hartley II of California; daughter, Terri D. Hartley (John Kandl) of Ohio; daughter, Kim S. Hartley of Florida; son, Scott W. Hartley (Anita Gross) of Washington State and daughter, Jan N. Dentino of Batavia. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Dixie and her husband moved to Florida where she worked in security for Harris Corporation in Melbourne. They both enjoyed accompanying their family to Disneyland for many years. While in Florida Dixie was dedicated to fitness such as swimming almost everyday, walking several miles each week, practicing yoga and healthy eating, thus her long life. She was an inspiration to many. They returned to Batavia in 2011.
