Basom - Douglas E. Baubie, 55, of Basom, a water jet technician at ITT Exelis in Rochester, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home in Basom.
Mr. Baubie was born April 28, 1958 in Batavia, a son of Gordon L. and Sarah F. (Hewitt) Baubie of Batavia.
He was a 1976 graduate of Oakfield Alabama High School, was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed golf. He had built his own formula race car and was known as a good family man.
Surviving along with his parents is his wife, Lorie (Tower) Baubie, whom he married May 25, 1991 are a daughter Cassandra A. Baubie of Buffalo; a son, Matthew D. Baubie of Basom, a brother, David Baubie of TX; a sister, Denise (James) Koehler of Dundee; his mother-in-law, Shirley Tower of Albion; 6 nieces and nephews, Victoria Baubie, Jonathan Baubie, Steven Koehler, Jeffrey Koehler, Brian (Ashley) Koehler and Michael Koehler and 1 great-nephew, Emmerich Koehler.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave., Oakfield, where services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2013. Memorials may be made to Alabama Fire Department, P.O. Box 798, Basom, NY 14013. Burial will be in Alabama Cemetery at a later date.
