Batavia - Mr. Duane Pollard Bostwick, 91, of Batavia, retired distribution supervisor at National Brands Beverage, a division of C-B Foods, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.



Mr. Bostwick was born August 29, 1921 in Batavia, a son of the late Henry D. and Cornelia Pollard Bostwick.

He was a 1939 graduate of Batavia High School and a 1941 graduate of the Academy of Aeronautics at La Guardia Field in New York City. He served 36 months overseas with the 64th Fighter Squad of the Army Air Force, the famed Black Scorpions during World War II. They were in support of Montgomery's British Eight Army from El Alamen to Tunis in North Africa, Malta, Sicily, and Corsica. He also served as Army & Air Force recruiter in Batavia after the war.



Mr. Bostwick was production foreman for the former E.N. Rowell round box division and its successor Niemand Borthers in Elmhurst, New York City. He retired in 1983 as distribution supervisor for National Brands Beverage, a division of C-B Foods.



His wife, Margaret Jean Brunnels Bostwick, died in 1994.



Survivors include a son, John (Diane) Bostwick of Batavia; two daughters, Sandra (Brian) Clark of Batavia and Deborah Bostwick of Tennessee; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.



He was a brother of the late Paul Bostwick.
