Batavia - Mrs. Edith Scott Hiscutt Longchamps, 91, of Batavia, former nurse's aide at the Batavia VA Medical Center, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her home under the care of her loving family and HomeCare & Hospice.
Mrs. Longchamps was born November 22, 1921 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Jay B. and Alice (Dampier) Scott.
She attended LeRoy High School and was a long time resident of Batavia. Edith worked as a nurse's aide at the former St. Jerome Hospital and the V.A. Medical Center, where she retired in 1985. A member of the First Baptist Church of Batavia, she participated in the Fireside Class and volunteered at the Thrift Shop. Following her retirement, she transported patients for the American Cancer Society and helped them with fundraisers. She has been an active member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Elks Club.
She is predeceased by her husbands, Leon A. Hiscutt in 1972 and Theodore G. "Ted" Longchamps in 2011.
Survivors include three sons; Paul (Beth) Hiscutt of LeRoy, Gary (Darla) Hiscutt of Batavia and Robert (Sandy) Hiscutt of Alexander; three daughters; Leona Nagle of Corfu, Diane (Charley) Page of Wyoming and Teri (Tom) Martucci of Florida; her twin brother, Edward Scott of Stafford; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and her beloved cat Ray.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Elsie Scott; grandson Jeffrey Rider and great-granddaughter, Teriyanna Seaburg.
At her request there will be no prior visiting hours. Her memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Batavia, 306 East Main Street.
