Batavia - Mrs. Emma J. Carpenter, 93, of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester.
Mrs. Carpenter was born October 18, 1919 in Batavia, a daughter of the late H. Earl and Mary Duench Winspear.
A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Carpenter was a retired cook from Elba Central School and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Batavia.
Her husband, Ronald W. Carpenter, passed away in 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Andy) Brigzna of Bergen; two grandchildren, Andrea Brigzna of Le Roy and Peter Brigzna of Batavia; and several nieces and nephews.
She is the mother of the late David Earl Carpenter who passed away in 2006 and a sister of the late Earl, Gordon, Glenn and George Winspear, Isabelle Clark and Hazel Hammond.
Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.
