Churchville - Erma G. Lewis, 93, formerly of Batavia, died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Unity Living Center in Rochester.
Mrs. Lewis was born November 20, 1920 in Batavia, the daughter of the late James and Alice (Lester) Merry.
A lifelong resident of Batavia she moved to Churchville to be nearer her daughter. For many years she was a receptionist at the former Genesee County Savings and Loan Company in Batavia. She was a member of Resurrection Parish, St. Mary's Church and its' Altar and Rosary Society. An avid bowler she participated in many leagues and tournaments in the area.
Her husband was the late Stanley Lewis and she was a sister of the late Edward Merry, James Merry and Monica Shaw.
She is the mother of Mary Ellen (Lynn) Rowcliffe of Rochester and Nancy (Gary) Masterton of Chicago; grandmother of Julie Rowcliffe Demo, Kevin (Heather) Rowcliffe, Gary (Heather) Waite and Gregory Waite and great grandmother of Justuf, Desmin, Connor, Erica, Alison, Avery and Cameron.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St., Batavia, NY. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM, Thursday at Resurrection Parish - St. Mary's Site, 18 Ellicott St. Batavia. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 4245 Union Rd., Cheektowaga, NY 14225. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Batavia.
