Byron - Evelyn L. Wood, 69, of Byron, passed away Tuesday, (September 11, 2012) at her home.
Mrs. Wood was born January 7, 1943 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Edward and Editha (Crouch) Horton.
Evelyn was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, in Rochester. She loved to read and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. She also liked to tend her flower gardens.
She is the wife of Roger R. Wood, whom she married October 12, 1968 in Rochester.
Surviving along with her husband is her son, Gordon Wood of Cheektowaga; brothers, Rex (late Marilyn) Horton of Albion, and Burt Horton of Rochester. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen where Evelyn's Funeral Service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society At Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450. Burial will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery, Newfane.
