Batavia – Frederick B. “Freddie” Barber, age 79, of Batavia passed away on July 16, 2017 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia. He was born March 27, 1938 in Elba, a son of the late Frederick H. and Edna Walheim Barber. He was employed, for many years, by “Torchy” Babcock of Batavia. Freddie loved country music and his pet cats. Surviving is his longtime companion, Stella Jamieson of Batavia; his son, Clifford of FL; his daughter, Kim of WV; sisters, Catherine Mistal of Warsaw and Mary Jane Ostrowski of Holley; brothers, Frank Barber of Caledonia and Berton Barber and Charles Barber, both of Elba; as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There was a kind of special connection with his niece “Kristy”. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Demmer, formerly of Frankfort, KY and Grace Edna who died at birth. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volunteers for Animals, P.O. Box 1621, Batavia, NY 14021. Arrangements were entrusted to the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home of Batavia.
