Chandler, Arizona - Mr. Gary L. Burr, 54, of Chandler, Arizona, professor at Mesa Community College in Mesa, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Chandler, Arizona.
Mr. Burr was born May 27, 1959 in Olean, a son of Guy and Joyce Baker Burr of Bergen.
A 1977 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School, Gary graduated from SUNY Brockport with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Chemistry. He was a professor at Mesa Community College and delivered papers for The Arizona Republic. He also served as an umpire for youth baseball and softball in Chandler.
Gary loved watching sports on TV, was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed attending concerts, especially The Eagles. He will be remembered as a caring and devoted father.
Surviving along with his parents are his children, Nick Kidd of Bar Harbor Island, Washington, Elena Burr, Brianna Burr and Tanner Burr, all of Chandler, Arizona; two brothers, Tim (Kerri) Burr of Syracuse and Brian (Vicky) Burr of Boston, Massachusetts; his sister, Jan Parsons of LeRoy and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Avenue, Bergen. Burial will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Card Creek Cemetery, Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 North Pointe, Suite #130, Amherst, New York 14228 or Brockport Foundation, 350 New Campus Drive, The College at Brockport, Brockport, New York 14420.
