Gary L. Pursel, 67, of Batavia, passed away on Monday (September 7, 2015) at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.
Gary was born July 2, 1948 in Batavia, a son of the late John Henry Pursel Sr. and Elsie (Dixon) Pursel of Batavia.
A veteran, Gary served with the United States Army and worked at Overhead Door Company of Batavia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and restoring old vehicles, including a 1941 Plymouth Coupe. Above all, Gary loved his family.
Surviving along with his mother are his wife, Kathy (Boyle) Pursel of Batavia; two brothers, Sonny (Peggy) Pursel of Batavia and Jim (Helene) Pursel of S.C. and several nieces and nephews.
He is the father of the late Gary Lee Pursel Jr.
There are no prior calling hours. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Stafford Rural Cemetery, Transit Road, Stafford. A reception will be held at the conclusion of Gary's services at the Stafford Fire Hall, Main Road, Stafford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homecare & Hospice, 29 Liberty Street, Suite #6, Batavia, NY 14020 or James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Box 704, Rochester, NY 14642.
