Williamsville - Mrs. Gloria Mae Burns, 81, of Williamsville, a longtime resident of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Mrs. Burns was born September 2, 1931 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Leroy and Mildred Bowman Greene.
Gloria was a devoted wife and mother who was an avid fan of professional golf and the Buffalo Bills. A former member of St. Joseph's Church and the Stafford Country Club, she also belonged to the now defunct American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps. Gloria, a drum majorette, marched beside her husband, the corps' drum major. Other interests included playing cards, crossword puzzles, HGTV, and having coffee on her front porch.
Her husband, Neil T. Burns, Sr., passed away on March 8, 2007.
She is the beloved mother of Janet (Bruce) Briggs of Amherst, Susan (Daniel) Keefe of Amherst, Robert (Barbara) Burns of Clarence, Neil (Patti) Burns, Jr. of Amherst, Timothy (Jean) Burns of Solon, Ohio and Daniel (Denise) Burns of Brighton; 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Greene of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.
She is the sister of the late Ruth Demus and Janet Colantonio.
There are no prior visiting hours. Gloria's Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 12:00 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, by Fr. Ivan Trujilio and Deacon Walter Szczesny. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
