Batavia - Gloria A. Hackett Hudson, 88, of Batavia, formerly of Attica, a secretary at the V.A. Medical Center in Batavia for 40 years prior to her retirement, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.
Mrs. Hudson was born April 8, 1926 in Batavia, a daughter of the late George G. and Kathryn (O'brien) Hackett.
She was a graduate of Batavia High School and member of St. Joseph's Church. She was a former member of St. Joachin and Anne Church in Attica, was an avid birdwatcher and crafter and was a friend to everyone she met.
Her husband, Eldon N. Hudson, died July 24, 2010 in their 38th year of marriage.
Survivors include her step-son, Alan (Judith) Hudson of Novi, MI; her step-daughter, Marcia (Jeffrey) Freyman of Lexington, KY; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late George Hackett, Elma B. Parker and Catherine Rogers.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St, Batavia. Mrs. Hudson's Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Site, 303 E. Main St., Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaver Meadow Audubon Society, 1610 Welch Rd., North Java, NY 14113, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Alexander.
