Batavia - Mr. Harold D. Wight, 86, of Batavia, died Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at the New York State Veteran's Home in Batavia.
Mr. Wight was born October 21, 1926 in Bolivar, a son of the late David and Pearl (Skerritt) Wight.
A veteran, he served with the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. Mr. Wight worked at the former GTE Sylvania Plant in Batavia and also at United Memorial Medical Center. He will be remembered as a NASCAR fan and a loving grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Herta M. (Jaeger) Wight of Batavia; five daughters, Karen (Robert) Norris of Harlingen, Texas, Debra (Ted) Burlingame of Beaverton, OR, Crystal Falcone of Bergen, Terri (Brian) Musshafen of Ogden and Pamela Stevens of Batavia; a step-son, Glenn (Grisel) Fuller of Orlando, FL.; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His first wife, Phyllis (Edwards) Wight, died in 1971. He is the brother of the late Virginia, Robert and Gerald Wight.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.
