Batavia - Harry T. “Hatter” Morith, 96, of Batavia, a Rural Letter Carrier at US Postal Service in Batavia, prior to his retirement, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Harris Hill Nursing Facility, in Williamsville.

Mr. Morith was born March 4, 1920 in Batavia, a son of the late Joseph and Winifred (Taylor) Morith.
He served with the US Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945, attended the First Baptist Church of Batavia and loved to dance. He was with the US Postal Service for 31 years and previously with the Daily News for 20 years as an advertising salesman.

His wife, Betty Jane (Kelley) Morith, died November 30, 2011.

Survivors include 4 step-daughters, Judy (Samuel) Meyer and Marilyn (Jack) Mosier, both of Akron and Linda Fotheringham and Roberta Tabone, both of Las Vegas; a brother, Robert (Fay) Morith of Batavia; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late George E. Morith, Franklin J. Morigh, Charles P. Morith, William J. Morith, Gordon L. Morth, Gilbert Morith, Violet Armstrong and Gertrude Precore.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Inc., 403 E. Main St., Batavia, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Batavia, 306 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020.
