South Byron - Homer Dean Ivison, 89, a longtime farmer of South Byron, NY, passed away on November 6, 2016 at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester. Mr. Ivison was born February 3, 1927 in Batavia, NY a son of the late Harold and Alice Scoins Ivison.

Mr. Ivison was a lifetime member of the Genesee County Fair Society, former President and board member of the Genesee County Fair, director and former Vice President of Eastern Al, organizer and coach of the Byron Little League, former director and counselor of Byron Boy Scout Troop 13, former Vice President of DHIA, member of the Holstein-Friesian Assoc., former member of the Byron Planning Board and the Byron Historical Society, past Noble Grand and member of the South Byron, Bergen and Flower City IOOF and former member of the South Byron Fire Department. He was a member of the Byron Grange #395, past member of the Dairylea Cooperative, a 1945 graduate of South Byron High School and member of the Section Five Basketball Championship Team. He was a member of the Genesee County Fish and Game Protective Association, member of the South Byron Methodist Church and member of the American Legion.

He served in the US Army during WWII and was the driver for the lawyers involved in the Nueremburg trials.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet W. (Ward) Ivison, his sons, Mark and Dean Ivision of Byron and daughters, Lori Ivison of Byron and Lisa (Mark) Ellingham of Bergen; 2 grandchildren Jason (Tiffany) Ivison and Kali Ellingham; 3 great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Jason, Jr. and Colton Ivison; his sister, Lorraine (Donald) Porter of Apopka, FL; sisters-sin-law, Josephine Ivison and Joan Dudley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Duane, Howard and Stuart Ivison and Thelma (Alva) Cleveland; and brother-in-law of the late Arlene Ivison and Joyce Kaiser.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Inc., 403 E. Main St., Batavia, where services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Byron Methodist Church, 7526 Byron-Stafford Road, South Byron, NY. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery, Byron.
