Batavia - Ida A. Tumminello, age 96, passed away on November 18, 2014 at the Batavia Health Care Center where she resided for the past ten years.
She was born July 1, 1918 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Rosario Tumminello, Sr. and Josephine Gugino Gaeta Tumminello.
Ida was a medical secretary at the Genesee County Health Department prior to her retirement. She was previously employed at Teresi Insurance Company.
A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong member of the former St. Anthony's Church where she actively participated.
She was predeceased by her brothers; Samuel (late Mary) Gaeta, Anthony Gaeta, Frank Tumminello and Rosario Tumminello; sisters, Josephine (late Stuart) Hayden, Mary (late Arthur) Cecere and a nephew, Ronald Cecere.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Audrey Tumminello and Rosemarie Tumminello, both of Batavia; nieces and nephews, Betty (Richard) Ahl, Joanne (Paul) Kruppa, Dolores (David) Prezyna, Thomas (Karen) Tumminello, Kathy Lathrop, Joanne Tumminello, Theresa (Peter) Falcone, Keith (Sandra) Tumminello, Paul Tumminello, Annemarie (David) Baldo, Marianne (Steve) Scalise, Jeffrey Hayden, David Hayden and Corey Cecere.
She will be remembered as a close and loving member of her family.
There will be no prior visiting hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia.
