Batavia - Mrs. Ida Rebecca Wimbush, 90, of Batavia, died Friday (August 3, 2012) at the Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia.
Mrs. Wimbush was born October 7, 1921 in Long Island, Bahamas, a daughter of the late Herman and Ida (Majors) Dean.
She was a member of Highway Holiness Church and an environmental aide at the former St. Jerome Hospital in Batavia.
Survivors include a daughter, Liz (Jeff Cole) Wimbush of Batavia; seven grandchildren, including Labue Wimbush of Batavia; two sisters, Merril (David) Adderly and Bernice Dean, both of Long Island, Bahamas. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Her husband, John C. Wimbush, died March 1, 2011. She is also predeceased by her four brothers, Fonza, Clea, James and Frayman Dean and a sister, Lilly Dean.
There are no prior calling hours. Services will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.
Memorials may be made to the family.
