After the sale of his family farm, he worked until his retirement for CY Farms of Elba. Upon retirement, he greatly enjoyed his greatest pastimes, spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as at his camp in Wellsville.

He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Baldwin, who passed away on December 24, 2021, in addition to three infant brothers and his five year old brother, Edward, Jr, son-in-law Dave Shuknecht, and grandchildren Christen L. Baldwin and MSgt. Brian M. Baldwin, USAF.

Left to carry on his legacy are his children, Amy (Sam) Mooney of Oakfield, Greg (Lori) Baldwin of Holley, Peggy (the late Dave) Shuknecht of Elba, and James A. (Bonnie) Baldwin, Jr. of Elba; grandchildren, Rene (Sam) Brade, Sarah and Corey (Carissa Howard) Mooney, Gregory Baldwin, Jr., Elizabeth (the late Brian) Baldwin, Brian D.
