Oakfield - James B. Cassiano, 94, of Oakfield, a manager at Pfaudler, Inc., in Rochester, prior to his retirement, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Genesee County Nursing Home, in Batavia.
Mr. Cassiano was born April 2, 1921 in Vancouver, BC, the son of the late Ercole and Jennie (Taddei) Cassiano.
He was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish and Oakfield Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and loved to walk. He was an accomplished accordion player and taught many students at Roxy's Music Store. He was the leader of a local orchestra called the Casanovians.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (Bovenzi) Cassiano, whom he married April 7, 1945; 3 sons, Coley J. (Meta) Cassiano of Summerfield, NC, Guy A. (Deborah) Cassiano of Oakfield and John (Dana) Cassiano of Orchard Park; a son-in-law, Patrick F. Reilly of East Aurora; a brother: Quito (Geraldine) Cassiano of Oakfield; 2 sisters, Josephine (Frank) Mosco of Batavia and Nancy (Angelo) Steffenella of LeRoy; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Margaret Ann Reilly and brother of the late Nicholas (late wife Angeline) Cassano.
Mr. Cassiano’s Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 am Monday at Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site in Elba. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesee County Nursing Home, 278 Bank Street, Batavia, NY 14020 or to St. Padre Pio Parish, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, NY 14020. Private burial will be in St. Cecelia’s Cemetery in Oakfield. Arrangements were completed by Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, NY 14125
