Batavia - James F. Horgan, Jr., 58, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center.
Mr. Horgan was born November 5, 1957 in Batavia, the son of the late James F. Horgan, Sr. and Helen Green Horgan.
A 1975 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Jim graduated from Empire College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Service Management. He was instrumental in having this program implemented at the college. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Batavia, he was a member of the Horseshoe Lake Association, the Thursday morning ROMEO's at Sport of Kings Restaurant and the Hernando High Point Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Brooksville, Florida where they spent many winters together.
A fan of college sports, the NBA, he was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. He loved nature, being outdoors at Horseshoe Lake watching the birds and turtles.
He is survived by his wife, Kathrine A. McBride Horgan; his children, John K. (Jennifer) Volpe of Attica, Seamus M. (Amanda Lawrence) Horgan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Padraic D. (Shannon) Horgan of Clarence and Siobhan (William) Fargo of Surf City, North Carolina; three sisters, Mary Kay (John) Yanik of Geneseo, Margaret (Sal) Cintorino of Vermont and Elizabeth (Donald "Butch") Miller of LeRoy; eleven grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins including John Green and Bob Green, both of LeRoy and numerous dear friends including George Gehlert of Arizona.
There are no prior visiting hours. Jim's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street, Batavia.
