James W. Quinn, 85, of Bergen, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, in Rochester. Prior to his retirement James worked as a lineman at Rochester Telephone Co. in Churchville.
Mr. Quinn was born December 26, 1931 in Rush, a son of the late Thomas and Edna (Lamb) Quinn. He was the brother of the late Joseph E. Quinn and Thomas B. Quinn.
He served during the Korean War with the Army’s 82nd Airborne, Hq & HQ Co., 6th Armored Division. He was a member of St. Brigid's Church in Bergen, Merrill-Sackett-White American Legion, Post #575 in Bergen, Thomas A Dobson VFW Post 379 in Brockport, Elks Lodge in Churchville; LOOM (Moose) Lodge #2244 in Churchville and Communication Workers of America. He formerly enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an antique auto mechanic.
James was the beloved father of 7 children; Katherine (Earl) Sanders of Waikoloa, HI, James (Sally) Quinn of Kanab, UT, Peggy (Dan) Decker of Bergen, Mary (Dennis) Barnard of Stafford, Michael (Kelly) Quinn of Brockport, Patricia (Don) St. Clair of Gilbert, AZ and Kelly (Peter) Nichter of San Mateo, CA; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co., Inc., 51 S. Lake Ave, Bergen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Brigid's Church, 18 Gibson Str. in Bergen. Private burial will follow at the St. Rose Cemetery in Lima, NY.
