Jennie (Tessitore) LaFarnara, 96, of Batavia, died Saturday (October 25, 2014) at her son's home in Batavia surrounded by her family.
Jennie was born October 11, 1918 in Canton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Victoria (Spina) Tessitore.
A member of Ascension Parish, Jennie was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the church. She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Anthony) Figlow of Batavia; a son, Nicholas (Kathy) LaFarnara of Batavia; grandchildren, Jodi (Steven) Coburn, Michael (Heather) Figlow, Adam (Teresa) Figlow, Jamey LaFarnara, Jessica LaFarnara and Ashley (Dan) Davis; two sisters, Mafalda "Muff" Calarco of Batavia and Clara (Peter) Rossi of LeRoy; 21 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Jennie is predeceased by her husband, Anthony LaFarnara. She is a sister of the late Joseph Tessitore, Cecilia Ball, Rose Pellegrino, Angeline Falcone and Helen Pellegrino.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Ascension Parish, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.
