Batavia - Mr. John Paul Maha, 80, of Batavia, died Monday (April 22, 2013) at the Batavia VA Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
John was born September 14, 1932 in Warsaw.
A US Army veteran, he specialized in communications and was a ham operator for over 30 years. Mr. Maha was a hard worker for many years for Demerly Communications, which later became Tatarka Technologies in Batavia.
John is predeceased by his parents, John J. and Mary (Goodenow) Maha, formerly of Corfu, a brother, Dennis Frank Maha, formerly of Dansville and a sister, Lorraine A. Cleere, formerly of Seneca Falls.
Survivors include a brother, Gary T. (Susan) Maha of Batavia; three sisters, Mary Joan (Mark) Vaughn of Medina, Diane (Bill) Shamp of Oakfield and Susan (Frank) Fuchs of Florida; a brother-in-law, Thomas Cleere of Seneca Falls and several nieces and nephews.
There are no prior calling hours and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor' choice.
