Batavia - Joseph Paul Heale, of Batavia, a retired union mason with the Brick Layers & Allied Crafts Union, Local 3 in Buffalo, died Friday, September 30, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.
Mr. Heale was born March 10, 1929 in Batavia, a son of the late Raymond Heale, Sr. and Charlotte (Moore) Heale. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne.
He was an avid reader and was interested in the history of the country. He was a member of the Batavia Moose Club. He was a coach for the Babe Ruth baseball team and was an usher for over 50 years at St. Joseph's Church in Batavia.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Cichocki) Heale; a daughter, Linda (Paul) Lewis of East Bethany; a son, David (Mary) Heale of Batavia; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Heale and Brandon Lewis; and a sister, Beverly (Arthur) Kowalik of Chili, a brother-in-law, Gordon Kilner of Batavia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the predeceased by his granddaughter, Stacy Heale, his brother, Raymond Heale, Jr., and his sister, Sharon Kilner.
There are no calling hours. Family and friends may attend his Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church, 303 East Main St., Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Resurrection Parish, 303 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home of Batavia.
