Batavia - Joyce E. Diegelman, 97, of Batavia, passed away on Friday (November 25, 2022).
She was born February 2, 1925 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Thomas) McCullough.
She was a graduate of Alexander Central School. Joyce worked as a dental assistant and lab tech for Dr. L. L. Mulcahey and Dr. Greg Patterson. She was a bookkeeper for the family business, Diegelman Brothers, Inc. for many years. Later she worked part-time in the Batavia Town Clerk's office. Joyce was also a long time Bingo Inspector and Election Inspector for the Town of Batavia.
Joyce served as past president and member of the Town of Batavia Fireman's Ladies' Auxiliary since 1962. She was also a member of the Town of Batavia Fire Department as an EMT. She and her late husband were lifetime members of the Genesee County Fish and Game Association. Joyce was a member of Resurrection Parish and St. Joseph's Sodality.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Herbert who passed in 1995 and her brother, William McCullough.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Beth), and Gary (Abigail) all of Batavia; grandchildren, Ian (Katherine), Guy (Meggie), Katherine, David (fiancee Morgan Fee), and Stephen (Rebekah) Diegelman; great-grandchildren, Kylar, Rowyn, Everly, Willa, Adeline, and Eliana. A niece and two nephews also survive.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street in Batavia (Please use School Street entrance). Joyce's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (December 2, 2022) at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street in Batavia. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volunteers for Animals, PO Box 1621, Batavia, New York 14021.
