Byron - Mr. Karl E. Bater, 80, of Byron, 25 year employee for Roehlen Engraving in Henrietta, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Crossroads House.
Mr. Bater was born August 10, 1933 in Bergen, the son of the late Ralph D. and Mildred Smith Bater.
A former member of the Moose Lodge in Churchville, American Legions in North Chili and Bergen, he will be remembered by his family as a handyman who enjoyed woodworking. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy from 1950-1954.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Bater whom he married June 28, 1958; two sons, Karl D. Bater of Bergen and Jeffrey C. Bater of Batavia; two grandchildren, Zachary Bater of Brockport and Lovina Bater of Mississippi; his brother, Robert (Mary) Bater of Massachusetts; two sisters, Dorothy (Daniel) Flanagan of Georgia and June (Nelson) Ralston of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Avenue, Bergen where his services will follow at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O.
