Batavia - Kitty Tessitore, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.
Mrs. Tessitore was born in Batavia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta Pastore Morette
.
Mrs. Tessitore was a self-employed hairdresser for many years and previously owned Kitty's Beauty Salon of Batavia. She was an avid reader and loved knitting afghans and baby clothes for her friends who were expecting a newborn. She made well over 100 afghans, all were made to order, and like a snowflake, no two were alike.
She was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Church, the Sodality of the church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also volunteered her time at the church by cleaning and ironing the vestments of the priests and cleaning the church.
Her husband, Joseph Tessitore, passed away on February 21, 1999.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is the mother of the late Nicholas Tessitore who passed away in 1959 and sister of the late Michael and Vincent Morette, Rosemarie Kenyon, Josephine Patterson and Ann DiSalvo.
There are no prior visiting hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
