Batavia - Lawrence J. Casper, 80, of Batavia, a mechanic at Genesee Community College in Batavia for 13 years prior to his retirement in 1999, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Buffalo General Medical Center, in Buffalo.
Mr. Casper was born December 12, 1934 in Buffalo, the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Joslyn) Casper.
He served with the US Army during the Korean War and had worked for the former Hawley Motors in Batavia. He was known as a "Mister Fix it" and enjoyed being with his family, golfing, hunting, horses and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Smith) Casper, whom he married on June 6, 1959, 5 children, Jody (Sylvia) Casper of TX, Patrick (Crystal) Casper of Stafford, NY, Carrie (Dean) Sharp of Byron, Jay (Maria) Casper of Batavia and Cindy (James) Blackburn also of Batavia; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Patricia Monroe.
Friends may call on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, where services will immediately follow at 4 p.m., Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 44, East Pembroke, NY 14056. Burial will be in North Pembroke Cemetery, Corfu.
