Batavia- Leona Jean Polk, age 45 went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 18, 2025.
Leona was born in Batavia, New York where she graduated from Batavia High School and obtained her Cosmetology License. Leona attended Genesee Community College. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist church. She was employed as a bus aide at Attica Bus Company before taking ill. Leona was excellent at cooking, doing hair and makeup. She liked going to the casino, playing card games, coloring, and going to the beach. But most of all Leona enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Leona is survived by her fiancé Derek Thomas of Leroy, NY; parents Nathaniel Dawson of Leroy, NY and Janet Dawson of Batavia, NY; brother Daniel Dawson of Tonawanda, NY; sisters Jessica Polk of Buffalo, NY, Peggy Polk and Quella Polk of Batavia, NY; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and very close family friends.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Leona's life during visitation at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, on Monday, April 28th, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 am at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery.
