Leota D. Hagen of Oakfield went to her heavenly home on February 10, 2025.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 72 years, Allen L. Hagen. Leota was born on November 18, 1927, in Alexander, New York to the late Charles and Bertha Bluman.
Leota was a faithful member of the Oakfield United Methodist Church since 1961 and was a dedicated volunteer of the Oakfield Thrift Store for many years, enjoying the fellowship of other volunteers. Leota graduated from Alexander Central High School and worked as a secretary at the Veterans Administration in Buffalo and Batavia, New York. She enjoyed square dancing, where she met Allen. They resided in Oakfield, New York, in the home she designed and helped build in 1962. She was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother of their 3 daughters. Leota was an avid seamstress and enjoyed designing and sewing clothes for them. She also loved baking, gardening, canning the produce from their vegetable garden, and surrounding their home with flower beds.
Leota is predeceased by her eight siblings, Ralph Bluman, Pearl Spencer Savage, Oscar Bluman, Agnes Sarach, Olive Welker, Orial Kryman, Homer Bluman, and Hazel Hart.
Survived are her daughters, Laurel (Eric) Adams of Oakfield and their children, Sean Adams of Oakfield, Leif Adams of Oakfield, and Kari (Victor) Luis of Norwalk, CT; Cheryl (Stephen) Nichols of Pavilion and their children Michelle (Adam) Martocello of Rochester, Mark Nichols of Batavia, James (Melanie) Nichols of Oakfield and Maia Nichols of Pavilion; Crystal Hagen (Dr. Frank Pignatelli) of Rochester and their children Matthew (Brynn) Mayback of Denver, CO, Jonathan (Mandy) Mayback of N. Chili, Nathan (Maureen) Maycheco of Aurora, CO, and Janelle Mayback of Corinth, MS: 12 greatgrandchildren, sisters-in-law Sally Robins and Laura Hagen: and several nieces and nephews.
The Hagen family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, and 11:00 to 1:00 on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield, NY 14125, where the funeral services will commence at 1:00 PM. Mrs. Hagen will be laid to rest in Cary Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory are suggested to the church or the Oakfield Volunteer Fire Dept.
Leota’s faith in Christ was evident in her daily life. Although her presence on earth will be missed, she eagerly anticipated her new home in heaven. Please join the Hagen family at the Oakfield United Methodist Church following cemetery services for a reception in honor of Leota D. Hagen.
