Lidia Cipollone, 94, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday (August 31, 2017) at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia. Lidia was born March 16, 1923 in Scerni, Italy, a daughter of the late Luigi and Domenica (Pietropaulo) Sabatini. Lidia was a member of Ascension Parish and the Notre Dame Prayer Group. Along with her husband, Nicola, they were tailors at Jet Tailors, which later became Abruzzi Tailors. Nicola and Lidia then purchased and owned Abruzzi Tailors, which operated out of their home on Liberty Street. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was a seamstress at Charles Men's Shop. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Grace (Larry) Gardner of Rochester; one son, Pierluigi (Gloria Jean) Cipollone of Batavia; a daughter-in-law, Meg Cipollone of Middletown; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Rebecca) Cipollone, Jesse (Brittany) Cipollone, Kristin (Adam Pratt) Cipollone and Matthew (Meghan) Cipollone; three great-granddaughters, Stella Mia Cipollone, Gracyn Cipollone and Abigail Cipollone; two sisters, Ida (Nicola) Monachetti and Teresa (Domenico) DelPlavignano, both of Italy and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Nicola Cipollone, a son, Mario Cipollone and her sisters, Concetta DiGhionno and Dorotea Sabatini. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Lidia's Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Parish, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.
