Lorraine F. Siuta Hough, 75, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on Thursday, (August 26, 2021). Until 2017 Lorraine had been a lifelong resident of Genesee County she spent the last 4 years in North Carolina with her daughter and family after the passing of her beloved husband, Douglas A. Hough.
Lorraine was born August 3, 1946 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Pirro) Siuta.
Lorraine retired from United Memorial Medical Center where she worked in the ambulatory surgery department. Before that, while her daughter was in school she worked part time at Alexander Central School as a cashier in the lunch room. She was well loved by the kids. Lorraine was a lifelong member of Batavia Assembly of God church and very involved in many programs at the church during her years there. She served her church in many ways; for many years she taught Sunday school, ran the Missionettes girls club, helped run the Sunday school dept, and sang in the church choir. When she moved to NC, she joined Zamar Church in Lancaster, SC and made many new friends these last 4 years. When the doors were open, she was there. She served the Lord her whole life and loved his church and his people. Always active she was part of a “neighborhood” ladies bible study as well.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Scott) Herr of Waxhaw, NC, her grandson Noah Herr of Waxhaw. Her brother, Raymond (Deborah) Siuta of Wyoming, NY. Her stepdaughter Sarah VanPragg of Albany, NY. Nephews Ray (Lisa) Siuta and Erik (Ashley) Siuta; 2 great-nieces Ella and Maddie Siuta and 2 step grandsons Devin and Reilly Van Pragg. Brothers-in-law Henry Hough, Paul (Dawn) Hough; sisters-in-law Donna Hough, Rosemary Nobles, Stella Howe, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Douglas A. Hough and her sister Doris A. Siuta.
Family and Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia. Lorraine's Funeral Service will be held Thursday (September 30, 2021) at 10:30 a.m. at Batavia Assembly of God, 24 North Spruce Street in Batavia. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either one of these charities Lorraine sponsored: Care-A-Van Ministries, PO Box 1611, Batavia NY 14021 (community outreach) or Batavia Assembly of God Church, 24 N.
