Batavia - Lucille M. Purvee, age 84, of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.
Mrs. Purvee was born July 24, 1930 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Patrick and Anna (Mallory) Mangan.
A longtime member of Resurrection Parish, she would assist with tuition for a child at St. Joseph's School and baked her chocolate cake, brownies, banana bread and chocolate cupcakes for the annual church lawn fete. She loved working on crossword puzzles and word search puzzles, card games, especially euchre, solitaire and rummy.
She crocheted scarves, hats, mittens for her grandchildren and loved Elvis Presley. She had a fascination and deep love of butterflies and enjoyed days full of sunshine with the butterflies in flight.
Her husband, Joseph E. Purvee, passed away on December 12, 1983.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth Frank and Christine Brownell, both of Batavia, Rose Koch and Patricia (Tom Moore) Purvee, both of Alexander; her daughter-in-law, Linda Frank of Virginia; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She is the mother of the late Robert W. Frank who passed away on December 30, 1993 and is predeceased by her eight sisters.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Her funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
