Batavia - Lucy M. Voltura, age 98, retired receptionist and office manager for Dr. Koester and Dr. Ahmed passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Batavia. Miss Voltura was born October 25, 1919 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Donato and Rose (Teresa) Voltura. Lucy, at the time of her death was the oldest living member of St. Jerome Hospital Guild having been a member for over 50 years. She held the office of Treasurer, board member and managed the Guild’s lottery program. She also was on the board of AARC joining their fight of childhood cancer and was a lifelong volunteer for the St. Jerome Gift Shop. One of Lucy’s biggest joys was being with family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed all sports and in particular an avid fan of the Yankees and Notre Dame. Surviving are two nephews, Daniel (Mary Ellen) Voltura of Batavia and Paul Voltura of California and a niece, Lucille (Charles) Hamilton of Tampa, Florida. Several great and great great nieces and nephews as well cousins survive. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jerome Hospital Guild, 16 Bank Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or the Ricky Palermo Foundation, 5159 Sunset Terrace, Batavia, New York 14020.
